Other Environmental Practices: Waste Treatment - In 2022, the facility constructed an anaerobic digester to treat all of its wastewater generated from the beet manufacturing process. In 2023, the facility constructed an aerobic pond system to further polish its wastewater prior to discharge. It is believed that anaerobic and aerobic treatment of the wastewater has led to a reduction in formaldehyde releases. |
