Other Environmental Practices: Energy Recovery - Utilized upgraded computer controls to reduce the natural gas fuel consumption in the thermal oxidizer when the process vent gas is rich in volatile organic compounds. This reduced the total natural gas burned and the associated greenhouse gas emissions for 2023 and future years.
2022
Other Environmental Practices: Recycling - During 2022, Lubrizol's Louisville Plant implemented 6 separate projects that saved and will continue saving a total of 24.4 million gallons of water, annually. One of those projects won the Waste Minimization, Reuse and Recycling Award in the American Chemistry Council's Responsible Care awards program. Lubrizol was recognized for its Centrate Recycle project at its Louisville, Kentucky, plant. The goal was to reduce water and steam consumption and to decrease the volume of water sent to the local publicly owned treatment works (POTW), through recycling materials in new ways. This enabled the plant to replace 50% of the hot water it used in a process and to eliminate the steam addition needed, saving 11.5 million gallons of water, 3.2 million pounds of steam and more than 240 tons of CO2 emissions annually.

Other Environmental Practices: Energy Recovery - During 2022, Lubrizol's Louisville Plant implemented 10 separate projects that saved and will continue saving a total of 0.83 million KWh of electricity and 6.86 million lbs. of steam, annually.
