The only loss is from small fugitive emissions during the disconnection at the fill port of the fire extinguishing bottle and the storage bullet.The fugitive loss is minimal, much less than the estimate of 250 lbs. |

Source Reduction - Transfer of material from bullet containers to bulk storage system ended in April 2010. The facility now fills product directly from bullets into product vessels. Due to a failure of a pump and back-up system, and the contamination that occurred related to the loss; the bulk storage system was eliminated. The elimination of the bulk storage system eliminates the possiblity to excessive leaking occurring. A portion of the material in the bullet (known as a 'heel') remains due to inability to put a full vacuum on the bullet. This amount is sent back to the vendor for cleaning and re-use. |
