Pollution Prevention Activities for Selected Chemical

Reporting Year Section 8.10: Newly Implemented Source Reduction Activity Section 8.10: Methods to Identify Activity Section 8.11: Optional Pollution Prevention Information*
2024 Barriers: B7-Barriers to P2 B7 - No known substitutes or alternative technologies.

Other Environmental Practices: Energy Recovery - A single waste stream contains most of the Acrylic acid that is transferred off-site and is used as a fuel or for energy recovery by disposal facilities. In order to reduce the need for off-site disposal of this waste, a plan was implemented to find a buyer for the waste stream, but that has, thus far, been unsuccessful.

Barriers to P2: B7 - No known substitutes or alternative technologies. - Acrylic Acid is the primary product. Releases of it are minimized as much as is technically and economically feasible.

2020 Barriers: B8-Barriers to P2 B8 - A reduction does not appear to be technically feasible

Barriers to P2: B8 - A reduction does not appear to be technically feasible - The largest source of waste that contains acrylic acid is too acidic for any downstream uses that are currently known.

2019 Barriers: B6-Barriers to P2 B6 - Pollution prevention previously implemented - additional reduction does not appear technically or economically feas
