Pollution Prevention Activities for Selected Chemical

Reporting Year Section 8.10: Newly Implemented Source Reduction Activity Section 8.10: Methods to Identify Activity Section 8.11: Optional Pollution Prevention Information*
2024
Other Environmental Practices: Energy Recovery - Heater "A" uses the facility's recycle material, which includes both styrene and ethylbenzene, as its fuel source. This reduces the overall usage of natural gas.

2023
Other Environmental Practices: Energy Recovery - Heater "A" uses the facility's recycle material, which includes both styrene and ethylbenzene, as its fuel source. This reduces the overall usage of natural gas.

2022
2021
Other Environmental Practices: Energy Recovery - Heater "A" uses the facility's recycle material, which includes both styrene and ethylbenzene, as its fuel source. This reduces the overall usage of natural gas.

2020
Other Environmental Practices: Energy Recovery - Recycle material is used in the facility's Heater A as noted in Section 8.10. The ability to use styrene/ethyl benzene as an alternative fuel source also reduced the amount of natural gas utilized at the heater. 2020 was a planned process shutdowns, expecting less recycle fuel used in 2021.

2019 Source Reduction:: W19: Other changes in operating practices[-5-14%]
Methods to Identify SR Opportunities: T04: Participative team management
W19: Improved recycle management, returning used process material back to reactor at the appropriate levels. T04 Team effort, Used R5 <15% the amount reduce in heater usage.

Other Environmental Practices: Energy Recovery - Recycle material is used in the facility's Heater A as noted in Section 8.10. The ability to use styrene/ethyl benzene as an alternative fuel source also reduced the amount of natural gas utilized at the heater. 2020 is planned process shutdowns, expecting less recycle fuel.

Source Reduction: Source Reduction - RCRA Part B permit issuance allowed ability to increase alternative fuel usage. Utilize Heater A waste fuel which uses facility's recycle material (Styrene /ethyl benzene) as the fuel source. More recycle used in the heater means less hazardous waste generated for off-site management.

2018 Source Reduction:: W58: Other process modifications
Methods to Identify SR Opportunities: T11: Other
W58: Utilize Heater "A" waste fuel which uses facility's recycle material (Styrene /ethyl benzene) as the fuel source. More recycle used in the heater means less hazardous waste generated for off-site management.

Source Reduction - RCRA Part B permit issuance allowed ability to increase alternative fuel usage.

Other Environmental Practices: Energy Recovery - Recycle material is used in the facility's Heater A as noted in Section 8.10. The increase in the ability to use styrene/ethyl benzene as an alternative fuel source also reduced the amount of natural gas utilized at the heater.

2017
Other Environmental Practices: Energy Recovery - Increased fuel usage in hazardous waste BIF beginning in 2018. Issuance of RCRA Permit B permit allows for an increased feed rate limit.

2016
Other Environmental Practices: Energy Recovery - A hazardous waste combustor is used on site to burn waste fuel for energy. The facility would be able to burn more waste in the combustor if the agency granted the facility the ability to store and burn waste more than 50% level in the storage tank currently allowed.
