Pollution Prevention Activities for Selected Chemical

Reporting Year Section 8.10: Newly Implemented Source Reduction Activity Section 8.10: Methods to Identify Activity Section 8.11: Optional Pollution Prevention Information*
2024
Other Environmental Practices: Recycling - All scrap stainless steel is sent to a scrap metal recycler, where it is processed to recycle waste to the maximum extent possible.

2023
Other Environmental Practices: Recycling - All scrap stainless steel is sent to scrap metal recycler. Stainless steel is processed to reduce waste to the maximum extent possible

2021
Other Environmental Practices: Recycling - All scrap stainless steel is sent to a scrap metal recycler. Stainless steel is processed to recue waste to the maximum extent possible.

2020
Other Environmental Practices: Recycling - All scrap stainless steel is sent to a scrap metal recycler

Source Reduction: Methods for Identifying Pollution Prevention Opportunities - Stainless steel is processed to reduce waste to the maximum extent possible

2019
Other Environmental Practices: Recycling - All scrap stainless steel is sent to a scrap metal recycler.

Source Reduction: Methods for Identifying Pollution Prevention Opportunities - Stainless steel is processed to reduce waste to the maximum extent possible.

2018 Source Reduction:: W49: Other raw material modifications[-25-49%]

Methods to Identify SR Opportunities: T04: Participative team management
Methods to Identify SR Opportunities: T01: Internal pollution prevention opportunity audit(s)
W49: The site is continually working on improving waste and scrap reduction rates with the stainless steel processed. One heat treat oven was removed in 2017, so there was a reduction in the capacity to heat treat steel in 2018. There were new steel suppliers and updated Safety Data Sheets used for the stainless steel calculations from the steel suppliers for the 2018 report.

Source Reduction - The cannula department analyzes stainless steel use information.
Source Reduction - The quantity of stainless steel used per manufactured quantities is audited with intent of finding opportunities for improving the processes to reduce scrap steel with the remaining one heat treat oven.

Other Environmental Practices: Recycling - All scrap stainless steel is sent to a scrap metal recycler

Source Reduction: Methods for Identifying Pollution Prevention Opportunities - Stainless steel is processed to reduce waste as much as possible

2017 Source Reduction:: W39: Other spill or leak prevention[-0-4%]

Methods to Identify SR Opportunities: T01: Internal pollution prevention opportunity audit(s)
Methods to Identify SR Opportunities: T04: Participative team management
Source Reduction - performed continuous improvement team reviews where opportunities for improvement seemed feasible
Source Reduction - Audited and improved steel processing efficiency and to reduce scrap or waste in the manufacturing processes

Other Environmental Practices: Recycling - recycle all scrap steel

Source Reduction: Source Reduction - continuous improvement team reviews to develop opportunities to reduce scrap

2016 Source Reduction:: W39: Other spill or leak prevention[-0-4%]
