Pollution Prevention Activities for Selected Chemical

Reporting Year Section 8.10: Newly Implemented Source Reduction Activity Section 8.10: Methods to Identify Activity Section 8.11: Optional Pollution Prevention Information*
2016 Source Reduction:: W39: Other spill or leak prevention
Methods to Identify SR Opportunities: T01: Internal pollution prevention opportunity audit(s)
2015 Source Reduction:: W39: Other spill or leak prevention
Methods to Identify SR Opportunities: T01: Internal pollution prevention opportunity audit(s)
Source Reduction - We built secondary containment for fugitive emissions and routed those emissions to the oxidizer. This reduced the net total emissions to the environment.
2014 Source Reduction:: W35: Installed vapor recovery systems[-0-4%]

Source Reduction:: W52: Modified equipment, layout, or piping
Methods to Identify SR Opportunities: T02: External pollution prevention opportunity audit(s)
Methods to Identify SR Opportunities: T04: Participative team management
Methods to Identify SR Opportunities: T10: Vendor assistance
Methods to Identify SR Opportunities: T02: External pollution prevention opportunity audit(s)
W35: We made significant improvements to capture fugitive emissions from our mixing operation. We added secondary containment and route to destruction for fugitive emissions.
W52: Upon recommendations from consultant, we increased duct sizing and repositioned it to maximize draw from our continuous mixer. This eliminated fugitive emission sources.

Source Reduction - Retesting capture efficiency during our next stack tests.
Source Reduction - We should be able to verify improvements with our upcoming stack testing and capture efficiency testing.

Source Reduction: Methods for Identifying Pollution Prevention Opportunities - Implemented a team to address fugitive emissions and methods to reduce them. Many actions were implemented to reduce emissions. Mainly preventative maintenance and replacement of seals.

Other Environmental Practices: Energy Recovery - We are now reclaiming stack heat to preheat our product.

2013 Source Reduction:: W19: Other changes in operating practices
Methods to Identify SR Opportunities: T11: Other
Source Reduction - The affects of using the recuperative oxidizers for destruction of emissions vs. the previous, less efficient scrubbers.
2012 Source Reduction:: W19: Other changes in operating practices
Methods to Identify SR Opportunities: T11: Other
Source Reduction - Production levels were down during 2012, due to less product demand. The product mix also changed. This resulted in less total Ammonia emissions in 2012.
2009 Source Reduction:: W13: Improved maintenance scheduling, recordkeeping, or procedures
Methods to Identify SR Opportunities: T11: Other
2008 Source Reduction:: W13: Improved maintenance scheduling, recordkeeping, or procedures
Methods to Identify SR Opportunities: T11: Other
