Barriers: B1-Barriers to P2 B1 - Insufficient capital to install new source reduction equipment or implement new source reduction activities/initiat
Barriers to P2: B1 - Insufficient capital to install new source reduction equipment or implement new source reduction activities/initiat - Changing to new fuel source is very costly for us. Switching to woodchips would cost around 1.2 million, and we would need to build underground storage for the wood chips. However, we do not own the land which would make building difficult. We are in talks to purchase the land now. We also investigated retrofitting our boilers to propane, but due to the age of our boilers it would not be worth it. We will heavily investigate this when we need to replace our boilers. We have some excellent studies from Efficiency Vermont on fuel conversion, but the price us too high for us at the moment. |

Barriers to P2: B1 - Insufficient capital to install new source reduction equipment or implement new source reduction activities/initiat - In 2024 we are currently working with Energy Vermont to investigate switching to biomass or propane fuel. We are still awaiting their report. The cost of switching fuel is a large barrier for us, and our plant is located on land we do not own, so adding additional facilities may be an issue. |
