W58: Added a baghouse to filter stack emissions. Baghouse has a 99.2% efficiency rating per stack testing. Source Reduction - This was a requirement of Allegheny County Health Department. The air emission rules have lower limits than the PA DEP. |
2017 |
Other Barriers to Source Reduction - Baghouse installed and started on Nov 27th for fine tuning and trouble shooting. Effects of the baghouse will not be seen until CY 2018 report. 2016 |
Source Reduction - Project conducted by internal technology group. Other Barriers to Source Reduction - Source reduction activity will take affect 4th QTR of 2017 with the completion and commissioned (under local regulator approval) of a baghouse. Other Environmental Practices: Recycling - Cobalt metal that is not used in final production or listed as scrap is sent to an off site metal recycler instead of plant refuse. |

2015 |
Other Environmental Practices - Cobalt is an expensive metal contained in many of our alloys. As a result, this facility does everything possible to reduce loss via any route. This includes cyclone separation and collection of fines contained in exhaust gasses and reverting of all uncontaminated materials back into the process.
Other Environmental Practices: Source Reduction - A baghouse was engineered in the reporting year and construction to commence in 2016. The baghouse will have 90% control of stack emissions. |

Source Reduction - Cobalt is an expensive metal contained in many of our alloys. As a result, this facility does everything possible to reduce loss via any route. This includes cyclone seperation and collection of fines contained in exhaust gasses and reverting of all uncontaminated materials back into the process.
Other Environmental Practices: Source Reduction - A project is underway to install a baghouse with 90% control of stack emissions. We have been issued a construction permit by Allegheny County Health Department and capital expenditures have been approved. We are currently working with an engineering firm on bidding the stages of construction and installation. |

Other Environmental Practices - COBALT IS AN EXPENSIVE METAL CONTAINED IN MANY OF OUR ALLOYS. AS A RESULT, THIS FACILITY DOES EVERYTHING POSSIBLE TO REDUCE LOSS VIA ANY ROUTE. THIS INCLUDES CYCLONE SEPARATION AND COLLECTION OF FINES CONTAINED IN EXHAUST GASES AND REVERTING OF ALL UNCONTAMINATED MATERIALS BACK INTO THE PROCESS.
Other Barriers to Source Reduction - A PROJECT IS UNDERWAY TO INSTALL A BAGHOUSE WITH 99% CONTROL OF STACK EMISSIONS. ENGINEERING DESIGN IS COMPLETE AND AWAITING APPROVAL BY THE ALLEGHENY COUNTY HEALTH DEPARTMENT. IT WILL THEN BE SUBMITTED FOR CONSTRUCTION AND INSTALLATION BIDS, AFTER WHICH IT WILL BE ENTERED INTO THE FACILITY'S CAPITAL BUDGET FOR COMPLETION. |
