Source Reduction - Chromium is an alloy used in metals we machine. We send our metal shavings to a scrap metal recycling company to be re-melted. The amount of chromium we send to recycle depends on our customers order demand. |
2019 |
Other Barriers to Source Reduction - Chromium is a element present in alloy steels which we machine for our customers. The amount of scrap material will vary depending on what types of steel our customers specify. Other Environmental Practices: Recycling - Send metal shavings to a recycler. |

Barriers to P2: B8 - A reduction does not appear to be technically feasible - Chromium is an alloy element in various types of steels that we machine. The metal shavings are sent to a metal recycler to be recycled. |
|
2016 |
Other Barriers to Source Reduction - Customer demand for machined components made from alloy steels containing Chromium as an alloy element were higher in 2016 compared to 2015. Other Environmental Practices: Recycling - Metal shavings produced during machining operations such as turning and milling are spun dry to remove cutting oils. The metal chips are then stored in recycling dumpsters and when full our recycling broker comes to take the shavings to be recycled into new steel. |

Other Barriers to Source Reduction - Chromium is an element found in many allot steels. Our organization machines alloy steel for a variety of industries such as defense contractors, automotive and electronics. Increased demand for components produced from alloy steels increased during this reporting period which increased our usage of these types of alloy steels. Other Environmental Practices: Recycling - Alloy steel containing this chemical is recycled by an offsite metal scrap organization. Other Environmental Practices: Waste Treatment - Ultrafiltration is used to pre-treat process waste water and periodic self-monitoring along with periodic monitoring performed by our local POTW is used to ensure permit limits are below local and federal limits. |
