W52: We completely decommissioned all chrome plating activities associated with the old chrome platers and used the two new platers exclusively in 2019. This drastically reduced the amount of waste chrome sludge generated at our waste water treatment plant, which reduced the amount of hazardous waste generated. |

W52: In 2017, we shut down two of our three existing chrome platers and replaced them with a new chrome plater. A second new plater will be installed in 2018, and the remaining old plater will be shut down. This will significantly reduce the amount of chromium waste in 2018, as well as produce product more efficiently. |

Other Barriers to Source Reduction - Pollution prevention previously implemented- additional reduction does not appear technically or economically feasible. We have implemented counter-current rinsing and optimized dwell and spray rinsing. We are following developments in non-chrome coatings such as organometallics but will need to wait until such technologies are commercially viable. We are also looking into increasing throughput which would enable us to do the same amount of plating with increased efficiency, allowing us to right-size our operation.. |
