W58: We are still using a closed mold process on some of our products. This has been slow but still hope to expand implementation. Future product design characteristics may require this process but the raw material costs are higher. Its a decision of product function and design vs product cost. Source Reduction - The whole reason for this process modification has been labor reduction. Reduction in emissions is a positive side effect. |
2017 |
Source Reduction: Source Reduction - A close molded process was implemented in 2014 for a new product line. This process significantly reduces the amount of styrene that is emitted compared to our open mold process. However, the product line that we produce with this closed mold process has been slower than the last few years. |

W58: Just started a new process that will reduce styrene emissions. Any resin used in this process instead of the current process will have a 66% reduction in emitted styrene. This process is new and had limited use in 2014 |
2013 | Source Reduction - Source reduction activities are just begining here. Next year should show a reduction in styrene emissions per lb of styrene used. The activity includes the addition of a close mold line that will replace some of the production that is currently produced in an open mold process. | ||
2012 |
Other Barriers to Source Reduction - WE ARE ALWAYS WORKING TO REDUCE EMISSIONS. WE HAVE IMPLEMENTED TO MATERIALS, EQUIPMENT AND TECHNIQUES IN THE PAST BUT HAVE NOTHING NEW FOR THIS YEAR. WE ARE WORKING ON A NEW PROCESS/TECHNIQUE BUT HAVE NOT PROVEN OUT OR IMPLEMENTED YET. |
