Old process involved hand additions into open containers and long mixing times during which solvent would evaporate. New process has raw material dispenses into a drum and mixing is done in a sealed drum tank Source Reduction: Source Reduction - New production processes use automated dispensing equipment has significantly eliminated open paint tank mixing and also reduced cleaning of production tanks with solvent. This is not captured in our emissions numbers because we use old emission factors based on usage of Xylene. |

W89: reduce cleaning of tanks. Source Reduction - Xylene has historically been used as wash solvent. Wash solvent is recycled in the recovery still. Still sludge is sent out as waste. A project was started in 2013 to reduce cleaning of tanks. This will reduce amount of wash solvent used and will reduce the amount of still sludge. |
