Other Barriers to Source Reduction - There are known substitutes but they are more expensive than the current solvent (ex. IPA). |

Source Reduction:: W14: Changed production schedule to minimize equipment and feedstock changeovers
|
Methods to Identify SR Opportunities: T01: Internal pollution prevention opportunity audit(s)
Methods to Identify SR Opportunities: T03: Materials balance audits |
W14: We run both water-based resin and solvent (methanol-based) grades. We try to coordinate the production schedule to maximize our efficiency and limit wastes. Source Reduction - We practice re-use of our resins (including methanol) back into the process where possible to limit both hazardous waste generation and new raw material use. |

Other Environmental Practices - We practice re-utilization of our phenolic resins back into the process if at all able so that it limits both haz waste generation and new raw materials purchasing. |

Source Reduction - Methanol is the solvent in all of our solvent-based grades. Our R&D group has also designed "latex-based" aka water-based grades which are essentially methanol-free. We are promoting for our customers to make the switch to the latex-based. Some are doing so in a slow, but steady rate. Furthermore, on our solvent-based grades our R&D group is working to lower the amount of methanol used in the process and still maintain desired finished product performance. This is an on-going effort. |
