2008 | Other Environmental Practices - Pollution control- installed a thermal oxidizer at the end of 2007 to reduce acetaldehyde air emissions by over 99%. Please note this important explanation for the change in the total release and on-Site treatment quantities in section 8, summation of total releases to air, solid waste, and waste water.
2007 | Other Environmental Practices - Pollution control- installed a thermal oxidizer at the end of 2007 to reduce acetaldehyde air emissions by 98%. Please note this important explanation for the change in the total release quantities in section 8, summation of total releases to air, solid waste, and waste water. You will notice a >25% change between natureworks LLC 2006 and 2007 reports, primarily attributable to the splitting of natureworks manufacturing facility into two separate business units. This business split is the result of the formation of a 50/50 joint venture between cargill inc. And teijin holdings us for the lactide/Polymer portion of the manufacturing facility. Cargill inc. Will maintain sole ownership of the lactic acid portion of the manufacturing facility. In previous reporting years, natureworks form rS were inclusive of the entire manufacturing process (Lactic acid/Lactide/Polymer), this year natureworks LLC will file form rS for the lactide/Polymer manufacturing process and cargill inc. Will incorporate the lactic acid manufacturing process into their report. Threshold determinations for the cargill multi establishment facility will be inclusive of threshold determinations for both manufacturing processes.
2005 | Other Environmental Practices - NatureWorks LLC has applied for an updated air permit that allows the installation of an RTO (regenerative thermo oxidizer) unit to reduce VOC's emitted at this facility. The emission points associated with release of Acetaldehyde will be routed to the RTO unit, resulting in 95% reduction of Acetaldehyde released to the environment. After NatureWorks LLC receives approval from the Nebraska Department of Environmental Quality construction will commence immediately and the unit should be operational within 14 months. |
