More environmentally responsible because we dont have to ship a separateproduct or use plastic containers to hold it. Benefits include: Increase in yield, Reduction in energy costs, reducing gas, electricityand water consumption (This is a huge benefit for the environment), Less transportation time, due to the finished productcoming from local suppliers. Usually within minutes of the plants. Shorter transportation time of a dry product, should have areduced risk of spills vs a liquid product needing to be shipped OTR. The facility reevaluated many chemicals used when tryingto align with FSMA and moved to GRAS chemicals. 2018-02-23: Combining the 5 outfall flow meter into one meter for betteraccuracy in water usage and monitoring.MOC-CC-2017-04-13: Install bearing temp sensors on the hammermills to be displayed onthe DCS to help to prevent fires during bearing failures.MOC-CC-2018-05-17: Replace the floor in 190 proof storage tank, TF-8351from carbon steel to SS per an internal API inspection. SS will prolong the life expectancy of the floor.In 2018 also added roofstiffeners to the original 3 fermenters, 1, 2 and 6 to eliminate excess emissions from cracks in the roofs. These include flue-gas scrubbers that dramatically slash emissions of sulfur dioxide,nitrogen oxide and particulate matter, and flare-gas recovery systems that capture and recycle gases that otherwise would beflared. By maintaining our emphasis on reliability, operational excellence and enhanced incident investigations, we will continueto target best-in-class environmental performance. Source Reduction - Anhydrous Ammonia is used for pH control within one process due to pH tolerance of enzymes used in the process. The facility substituted a different enzyme product that vendors are now supplying that is tolerant within a much wider pH range than the former product which allows for the use of a far lower annual quantity of Anhydrous Ammonia in the described process. |
