2022 |
Source Reduction:: S24: Modified or updated equipment or layout[-0-4%]
|
Methods to Identify SR Opportunities: T04: Participative team management
|
S24: Capital project to improve operations and efficiency of site caustic scrubber and thermal oxidizer.Efficiencies made to distillation column. Source Reduction - Team PHA and Operational discussions focused on improvements to thermal oxidizer and caustic scrubber operations and efficiency. Other Environmental Practices: Recycling - Currently site utilizes solvent recovery at OrgChem in Hot Springs, AR and U.S. Ecology in Robstown, TX. Other Environmental Practices: Energy Recovery - Currently evaluating fuel blending energy recovery for beneficial reuse of BTU value for material being incinerated off site. |

Source Reduction:: W50: Optimized reaction conditions or otherwise increased efficiency of synthesis[-0-4%]
|
Methods to Identify SR Opportunities: T04: Participative team management
|
W50: Improvements in batch cycle times and increased efficiencies in the process automation yielded source reductions of TiCl4. Other Environmental Practices: Recycling - Crude Orthochlorotoluene (COCT) is comprised of 3.6% TiCl4. COCT is sent off for recycling at Org Chem in Hot Springs, Arkansas for reclamation and return of OCT. |
2017 |
Other Environmental Practices: Recycling - Solvent and Titanium Tetrachloride recovery are captured in the TPF distillation columns thereby returning >80% of the TiCl4 back into the process. Also facility is equipped with chillers which condense the process vapors and return the liquid chemicals back into the process for use. |

Methods to Identify SR Opportunities: T03: Materials balance audits
Methods to Identify SR Opportunities: T01: Internal pollution prevention opportunity audit(s) |
W50: Capital replacement project of the TiCl4 and MCB distillation recovery column completed in August 2016 has lead to greater recovery of materials. Source Reduction - Mass balance of pre and post distillation column replacement. Other Environmental Practices: Recycling - On and off site recycling activities to reclaim manufacturing chemicals and reduce wastes generated from the processes. |
2014 |
Other Environmental Practices: Recycling - Solvent recovery/recycling technology is utilized in conjunction with Mid-America Distillates for the recovery of Orthochlorotoluene and monochlorobenzene. |
