Barriers: B7-Barriers to P2 B7 - No known substitutes or alternative technologies.
|
Barriers to P2: B7 - No known substitutes or alternative technologies. - Lead comes in as a impurity in the waste paper we use as a raw material to make 100% recycled paper. |
|
2015 |
Other Barriers to Source Reduction - The increase in reported lead in 2014 and 2015 corresponds with changing to industry factors from site specific testing results. Lead is a trace contaminant in waste paper. Waste paper is pulled out of the waste streams and is recycled at our plant to make new paper (100% recycled paperboard). Our cleaning processes remove large contaminants from the waste paper such as glass, grit, plastic, and metal objects. |

Barriers to P2: B6 - Pollution prevention previously implemented - additional reduction does not appear technically or economically feas - Lead is a trace contaminant in the material we use which is primarily in our incoming waste paper (which is recycled paper to begin with). Our process removes larger contaminants out of the paper which will contain trace amounts of lead (these larger contaminants are plastic, grit, glass, and metals). |

2007 | Other Environmental Practices - Lead is not purposely brought into the process. We through testing and mass balance analysis have determined that most will come in through the raw material which is recycled paper. We are trying to use more and more post consumer recycle material which while cheaper, will have more trace contaminants in the material. | ||
