Barriers: B3-Barriers to P2 B3 - Concern that product quality may decline as a result of source reduction.
|
Other Environmental Practices - The site is constantly looking for opportunities to minimize its environmental impact and conducts quarterly environmental audits per the ISO 14001 program (in addition to daily routine housekeeping inspections) to ensure housekeeping, BMPs, and other control measures are operating effectively.
Barriers to P2: B3 - Concern that product quality may decline as a result of source reduction. - Manganese is a component in the feedstock metal that's being processed. Changing the metal feedstock product to reduce manganese quantity would likely diminish the necessary specifications to meet customer quality demands. Other Environmental Practices: General Environmental Management - The facility is an ISO 14001 certified site and one of the environmental objectives is to reduce the amount of waste & scrap metal generated, which in turn reduces the amount of off-site scrap metal transfers. While this material is recycled, the site still tries to minimize the amount of metal scrap generated through strategic sourcing of our metal castings. In addition, the facility ensures that stormwater best management practices are followed, such as placing tarps or covers over scrap metal bins, to minimize manganese and other metals becoming entrained in the storm water. Other Environmental Practices: Recycling - The facility ensures that all applicable metals containing manganese that can be recycled are recycled. |

Source Reduction: Methods for Identifying Pollution Prevention Opportunities - The site is constantly looking for opportunities to minimize its environmental impact and conducts monthly environmental audits per the ISO 14001 program (in addition to daily routine housekeeping inspections) to ensure housekeeping, BMPs, and other control measures are operating effectively. Other Environmental Practices: General Environmental Management - The facility is an ISO 14001 site and one of the environmental objectives and targets is to reduce the amount of scrap metal generated, which in turn reduces the amount of off-site scrap metal transfers. While this material is recycled, it's still in the site's best interest to minimize scrap transfers. The facility has hired a new scrap metal recycling company to ensure more material can be properly recycled. |

Other Environmental Practices: Recycling - The facility ensures that all applicable metals containing manganese which can be recycled are recycled. Other Environmental Practices: General Environmental Management - The facility ensures that best management practices are followed as it pertains to storm water pollution prevention by placing tarps or covers over scrap and metal shavings recycling bins. Barriers to P2: B3 - Concern that product quality may decline as a result of source reduction. - Manganese is a component in the feedstock metal being machined, and changing the metal feedstock to reduce the manganese quantity would reduce product quality and isn't currently viable for the business. |

Barriers to P2: B3 - Concern that product quality may decline as a result of source reduction. - Materials which contain manganese are integral parts to our product quality, and thus it's not feasible for it to be replaced at this time. Other Environmental Practices: General Environmental Management - Facility ensures that best practices are followed as it pertains to storm water pollution prevention by placing tarps over scrap and metal shavings recycling bins. Other Environmental Practices: Recycling - Facility ensures that all applicable metals that can be recycled are recycled. |
