W31: W31 Outdoor storage of production metals (frames and cast iron parts) reduced substantially. Much of the reduction was removal of rarely needed or outdated parts from active inventory. W36: W36 Facility included additional cross functional members in the Storm Water Pollution Prevention Team participating in the Quarterly Inspection. This increased awareness of the potential for pollution due to outdoor storage of metals. Other Environmental Practices: General Environmental Management - Both production metals and scrap metals are stored inside or under cover. This limits exposure to storm water and any releases to water off site. Other Environmental Practices: Recycling - Scrap metals are collected according to type and grade to improve off site recycling efficiency and recovery. Additionally, metal filings and shavings are collected for recycling as well. |
