2018 | Other Environmental Practices - Ongoing efforts to control emissions include: all point sources on tanks and equipment in volatiles service are routed to flares, fugitive emissions are minimized by an ongoing Leak Detection and Repair Program, tanks and equipment are regularly inspected and monitored, and operations personnel receive extensive training. All employees receive pollution prevention and waste minimization training annually. | ||

Source Reduction - Ongoing efforts to control emissions include: point sources on tanks and equipment in volatiles service are route to flares, fugitive emissions are minimized by an ongoing Leak Detection and Repair program, tanks and equipment are regularly inspected and monitored, and operations personnel receive extensive training. All employees receive pollution prevention and waste minimization instruction annually.
Other Barriers to Source Reduction - The Dixie Chemical facility is a batch manufacturer; production is driven by orders and dependable forecasts for future orders. Xylenes are key raw materials in two products lines, one of which saw increased production in early 2013, resulting in higher consumption, but which has since been archived. Specific source reduction activities for chemicals such as these are therefore not viable. A high percentage of the xylenes in the propyleneimine process are reused within the process. |

Source Reduction - The Dixie Chemical facility is a batch manufacturer; production is driven by orders and dependable forecasts for orders. A product line that uses xylene has been discontinued, resulting in the reduction in emissions. In addition to the reduction in emissions due to the discontinued product line, significant resources are applied to prevent emissions. These efforts include: 1. All point sources on tanks and equipment in xylene service are routed to a flare and/or scrubber. 2. Fugitive emissions are minimized by an ongoing Leak Detection and Repair program. 3. Tanks and equipment are regularly inspected and monitored. 4. Operations personnel receive extensive and specific training. |
