Other Environmental Practices: General Environmental Management - To achieve compliance with MATS Hg control measures have been implemented. Prior to combustion the coal is treated with calcium bromide to maximize the fraction of Hg in the flue gas that exists in the ionic form. Precipitating agents are added to the scrubber liquor to remove the absorbed Hg and prevent saturation of Hg in the scrubber.
