2022 |
Other Barriers to Source Reduction - The main source of Lead and Lead Compounds is within the Mission ore body. Depending on where mining activities take place during a given year, the amount of these chemicals may increase or decrease. |
||
2021 |
Other Barriers to Source Reduction - The amount of lead reported is dependent on the area of the mine from which the copper ore has been extracted. Depending on location, lead sulfide concentrations may vary from one year to the next. |
||
2019 |
Other Barriers to Source Reduction - The decrease in Lead and Lead Compounds is directly attributable to the geology of the host rock in which the copper ore is being mined/extracted. There is great variability in the amount of these metals and compounds within this host rock. |

Barriers: B8-Barriers to P2 B8 - A reduction does not appear to be technically feasible
|
Barriers to P2: B8 - A reduction does not appear to be technically feasible - The unique characteristic of metal mining is that the location of a mine is determined by geological occurrence. This means that the composition of an orebody, i.e., valuable minerals associated with the product and co-products, as well as impurity minerals, referred to as gangue, is dictated by location and geology. This restricts the extent to which virgin material use and waste production can be reduced and limits opportunities for source reduction. The principal increase in the release to land is due to the processing of Hayden smelter slag In the Mission North and South Mill as a supplementary raw material and the increased lead content of the ore. |

2014 |
Other Barriers to Source Reduction - The lead being reported is naturally occurring in the ore body. The value is variable from year to year depending on where mining activities are taking place within the mine pit. |

2012 |
Other Barriers to Source Reduction - Amount of lead releases can vary greatly from year to year depending on the lead content of the area of the ore body that was mined for the year. |
