Pollution Prevention Activities for Selected Chemical

Reporting Year Section 8.10: Newly Implemented Source Reduction Activity Section 8.10: Methods to Identify Activity Section 8.11: Optional Pollution Prevention Information*
2020 Source Reduction:: W52: Modified equipment, layout, or piping[-0-4%]

Methods to Identify SR Opportunities: T03: Materials balance audits
Methods to Identify SR Opportunities: T04: Participative team management
Methods to Identify SR Opportunities: T11: Other
W52: StonePeak has increased the use of more raw materials for a better product with newer tschnology. This also allows StonePeak to utilize a better performing waste byproduct to be entered back into the manufacturing system.

Source Reduction - Due to extensive R&D it has been established to be able to use more purer recycled content instead of virgin raw materials.
Source Reduction - More R&D assistance to allow the need of less raw materials to be used.
Source Reduction - Monthly audits of chemicals and materials are performed.

Other Environmental Practices: Recycling - By replacing dry cutting lines in place of wet cutting lines, it is now feasible to reintroduce more of the waste content back into the manufacturing system than before eliminating a great deal of sludge.

2019 Source Reduction:: W13: Improved maintenance scheduling, recordkeeping, or procedures[-5-14%]

Source Reduction:: W51: Instituted recirculation within a process[-5-14%]

Methods to Identify SR Opportunities: T04: Participative team management
Methods to Identify SR Opportunities: T11: Other
Methods to Identify SR Opportunities: T04: Participative team management
Methods to Identify SR Opportunities: T03: Materials balance audits
W13: MORE PREVENTIVE MAINTENANCE WAS UTILIZED DUE TO PRODUCTION DEMANDS
W51: ADDED DRY CUTTING LINES SO THAT MORE OF THE WASTE COULD BE UTILIZED BACK INTO THE SYSTEM THUS REDUCING THE NEED OF CERTAIN MATERIALS

Source Reduction - MONTHLY AUDITS CONDUCTED ON SITE OF ALL CHEMICALS AND MATERIALS
Source Reduction - DUE TO MORE PREVENTIVE MAINTENANCE SHUTDOWNS AS A RESULT IN THE MARKET, MORE UPKEEP OF MACHINERY HAS BEEN PERFORMED TO INCREASE THE EFFICIENCY OF THE MACHINES.
Source Reduction - DUE TO EXTENSIVE R&D, IT HAS BEEN ESTABLISHED TO BE ABLE TO USE MORE RECYCLABLE CONTENT INSTEAD OF VIRGIN RAW MATERIALS IN THE PRODUCT.
Source Reduction - WITH MORE R&D MORE WASTE IS BEING USED TO DECREASE FOR THE DEMAND OF RAW MATERIALS USED.

Other Environmental Practices: Recycling - MORE WASTE MATERIAL HAS BEEN ADDED TO FORMULATIONS BASED ON R&D.

2018 Source Reduction:: W13: Improved maintenance scheduling, recordkeeping, or procedures

Methods to Identify SR Opportunities: T04: Participative team management
Methods to Identify SR Opportunities: T11: Other
W13: MAINTENANCE SCHEDULING HAS IMPROVED THE OPERATION OF ALL MACHINERY AND WITH CONTINUED IMPROVEMENTS OF THIS WILL ALLOW FOR BETTER EFFICIENCY OF THE MACHINERY AND WILL CREATE LESS WASTE.

Source Reduction - MANAGEMENT HELPS ENSURE THAT ALL PROGRAMS ARE FOLLOWED.
Source Reduction - R&D IS CONTINUALLY SEARCHING FOR MORE ENVIRONMENTAL AND PERSONNEL FRIENDLY MATERIALS TO REDUCE THE NEED OF CERTAIN CHEMICALS.

Other Environmental Practices: Recycling - RECYCLING IS A MAIN ISSUE AT THIS SITE.

2017 Source Reduction:: W13: Improved maintenance scheduling, recordkeeping, or procedures

Methods to Identify SR Opportunities: T04: Participative team management
Methods to Identify SR Opportunities: T11: Other
W13: Improved maintenance scheduling was implemented and record keeping is more detailed

Source Reduction - Supervisors and employees have been trained in becoming more diligent in reintroducing the waste back into the system
Source Reduction - Continued advancement in R&D in becoming more efficient

Other Environmental Practices: Recycling - Maintenance and scheduling procedures are continuing to be updated to become more efficient in run time on the machinery to help reduce waste that would have to be reintroduced back into the manufacturing system.

2016 Source Reduction:: W13: Improved maintenance scheduling, recordkeeping, or procedures[-5-14%]
Methods to Identify SR Opportunities: T04: Participative team management
W13: Maintenance scheduling and procedures were changed to help increase more efficient run time on the machinery to help reduce waste that would have to be recirculated back through the system

Source Reduction - All team members are in charge of their departments to ensure that all machines are maintenance on scheduled.
2015 Source Reduction:: W13: Improved maintenance scheduling, recordkeeping, or procedures[-0-4%]
Source Reduction:: W41: Increased purity or raw materials[-0-4%]
Methods to Identify SR Opportunities: T04: Participative team management
Methods to Identify SR Opportunities: T04: Participative team management
W13: RECORD KEEPING PROCEDURES HAVE BEEN IMPLEMENTED TO ENSURE AS TO WHAT THE TOTAL AMOUNT USED.
W41: DIFFERENT RAW MATERIALS HAVE BEEN SUBSTITUTED TO HELP FURTHER REDUCE THE NEEDS OF THESE COMPONENTS.

Other Environmental Practices: General Environmental Management - No byproduct of the manufacturing process is transferred offsite. All byproducts are reintroduced into the manufacturing process. Sludge, fired tile, and unfired tile.

2014 Source Reduction:: W13: Improved maintenance scheduling, recordkeeping, or procedures

Methods to Identify SR Opportunities: T03: Materials balance audits
Methods to Identify SR Opportunities: T04: Participative team management

Other Environmental Practices: Recycling - All material that would be considered a byproduct of the producing of the tile is implemented back into the Raw Material Area. This would include the Sludge that is produced in the Ball Mill, Atomizers, and the Glazing Lines. Dust is collected into the Bag houses to be propulsed back to silos in the Raw Materials area to be reused and dirty water is pumped back into tanks to be reused so that not as much fresh water is brought in. Fired tile that is not considered shippable would be also be brought back to the Grinder area to be ground and reintroduced back into the system.

2013 Source Reduction:: W42: Substituted raw materials
Methods to Identify SR Opportunities: T04: Participative team management
W42: MANGAGEMENT IS USING R&D TO USE DIFFERENT RAW MATERIALS AS WELL AS RECYCLING PRE CONSUMER GOODS AS WELL AS POST CONSUMER GOODS TO HELP ELEVIATE THE NEED FOR SO MUCH RAW MATERIALS.

Source Reduction - mANAGEMENT IS TRYING TO REDUCE THE CARBON FOOTPRINT OF STONEPEAK BY NOT NEEDING AS MUCH MATERIAL TO BE EXCAVATED.
