Barriers to P2: B6 - Pollution prevention previously implemented - additional reduction does not appear technically or economically feas - Automation implemented in 2019.

2019 Source Reduction:: W66: Modified or installed rinse systems[-5-14%]
Methods to Identify SR Opportunities: T05: Employee recommendation (independent of a formal company program)
W66: The zinc rinse system has been updated with automated equipment, improving the overall effectiveness of the system.

Source Reduction - Employee recommended the upgrade which was successful.

Other Environmental Practices: Energy Recovery - Our cement waste and zinc phosphate waste containing zinc is sent to VLS recovery services that convert the waste into heat, electricity and fuel via combustion and gassification.

2018 Other Barriers to Source Reduction - No additional source reduction efforts were explored in 2018.

2015 Source Reduction:: W13: Improved maintenance scheduling, recordkeeping, or procedures
Methods to Identify SR Opportunities: T05: Employee recommendation (independent of a formal company program)
2014 Source Reduction:: W13: Improved maintenance scheduling, recordkeeping, or procedures[-25-49%]
Methods to Identify SR Opportunities: T05: Employee recommendation (independent of a formal company program)
2007 Source Reduction:: W51: Instituted recirculation within a process
Methods to Identify SR Opportunities: T05: Employee recommendation (independent of a formal company program)
Source Reduction - In 2007 we added a filter press and began removing precipitated solids from the zinc phosphate tank. We reduced tank clean outs from 24 times per year to 2 times per year. Drums of waste zinc phosphate was reduced by 91 %. Purchases of fresh zinc phospahte was reduced by 41 %.
2004 Source Reduction:: W13: Improved maintenance scheduling, recordkeeping, or procedures
Methods to Identify SR Opportunities: T01: Internal pollution prevention opportunity audit(s)
