Source Reduction:: S21: Optimized process conditions to increase efficiency
|
Methods to Identify SR Opportunities: T11: Other
Barriers: B7-Barriers to P2 B7 - No known substitutes or alternative technologies. |
S21: We have optimized our process to reduce recycling by using up to date laser cutting machines along with water jet cutting machines utilizing software to reduce recycling. Barriers to P2: B7 - No known substitutes or alternative technologies. - We have to use metals in our process. Substituting non-metallic materials is not feasible as we service the Oil & Gas industry, Petrochemical Industries, Oil Refineries and Nuclear power industry to seal pipes to prevent leaks that could have catastrophic consequences to the environment, facilities and people. |

Methods to Identify SR Opportunities: T03: Materials balance audits
Barriers: B7-Barriers to P2 B7 - No known substitutes or alternative technologies. |
S24: We purchased a new laser that cuts our material more efficiently reducing scrap. Source Reduction - We purchased a new laser which helps us to optimize our material utilization therefore reducing scrap that has to be processed. Barriers to P2: B7 - No known substitutes or alternative technologies. - Our recycling program is usage driven by our customers which includes refineries and Chemical Plants. We use computer software programs to minimize material that we recycle. We have been in business over 75 years and have had to optimize the material that we buy by changing dimensions on the sheets, coil and bar that we buy to reduce the amount of scrap that we produce. |
