Barriers: B3-Barriers to P2 B3 - Concern that product quality may decline as a result of source reduction.
|
Barriers to P2: B3 - Concern that product quality may decline as a result of source reduction. - Xylene is used to flush the paint lines. If we do not use enough xylene, it could result in the paint line not getting flushed sufficiently. |

Barriers to P2: B3 - Concern that product quality may decline as a result of source reduction. - Chemical is used to clean paint circuits. Reducing the volume may cause color contamination. Barriers to P2: B6 - Pollution prevention previously implemented - additional reduction does not appear technically or economically feas - Constant program to reduce usage of this chemical through our waste training and process evaluations. |

The Waste Management Hierarchy |
The waste management hierarchy established by the Pollution Prevention Act (PPA) guides waste generators toward the best options for managing wastes.
The preferred option is to prevent pollution at its source, but for waste that is generated, the preferred management methods are recycling, followed
by burning for energy recovery, treatment and, as a last resort, disposing of the waste.
