W58: New equipment for better quality and reduced waste. Other Barriers to Source Reduction - We recycle all metal that is allowed by metal recycling companies. We have not found recycle option for steel dust. |
2013 |
Other Barriers to Source Reduction - Site does have pollution prevention efforts planned and underway in 2014 but nickle is not included as it is a constituent of steel and the amount of steel processed is directly related to production level. Pollution prevention efforts for 2014 pertain to oil usage and oil sorbent waste reduction since that is our largest waste stream. |
The Waste Management Hierarchy |
The waste management hierarchy established by the Pollution Prevention Act (PPA) guides waste generators toward the best options for managing wastes.
The preferred option is to prevent pollution at its source, but for waste that is generated, the preferred management methods are recycling, followed
by burning for energy recovery, treatment and, as a last resort, disposing of the waste.
