Other Environmental Practices: Recycling - The container with the zinc based galvanized paint is cleaned with recycled solvent. Once the container is cleaned, container is allowed to sit so the zinc settles to the bottom of the container. The solvent is removed. The zinc becomes hardened when allowed to dry out. Zinc is accumulated until the drum is approximately 1/2 to 2/3 full. The drum is then segregated then sent for metal recycling. |

The Waste Management Hierarchy |
The waste management hierarchy established by the Pollution Prevention Act (PPA) guides waste generators toward the best options for managing wastes.
The preferred option is to prevent pollution at its source, but for waste that is generated, the preferred management methods are recycling, followed
by burning for energy recovery, treatment and, as a last resort, disposing of the waste.
