Other Environmental Practices: General Environmental Management - Covestro Newark compounding facility takes significant steps to minimize any impacts to the environment from manufacturing activities. Examples are as recycled water system that treats and recycles 40-50% of waste water generated. This treatment system includes treatment steps that significantly reduce the amount of contaminants discharged to the POTW. Air emission control systems that include complex dust collection as well as a Thermal Oxidizer for thermal destruction from our process. A robust environmental management system that includes procedures, inspections, and audits to ensure compliance with environmental regulations and internal corporate regulations. Lastly strong commitments to corporate goals an initiatives such as being fully circular, net zero CO2 emissions by 2035, and Operation Clean Sweep Blue pledge. |

The Waste Management Hierarchy |
The waste management hierarchy established by the Pollution Prevention Act (PPA) guides waste generators toward the best options for managing wastes.
The preferred option is to prevent pollution at its source, but for waste that is generated, the preferred management methods are recycling, followed
by burning for energy recovery, treatment and, as a last resort, disposing of the waste.
