Reporting Year Section 8.10: Newly Implemented Source Reduction Activity Section 8.10: Methods to Identify Activity Section 8.11: Optional Pollution Prevention Information*
2022 Source Reduction:: S44: Other improvements to operating practices and training
Methods to Identify SR Opportunities: T06: Employee recommendation (under a formal company program)
Barriers: B8-Barriers to P2 B8 - A reduction does not appear to be technically feasible
S44: The metal reported here is a constituent of the product we sell. We cannot change the quantity used. Instead, we are concentrating on management and production practices to improve housekeeping, minimize fugitive materials, and maximize employee safety. Employee training and rigorous internal audits are an integral part of our ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 programs.

Barriers to P2: B8 - A reduction does not appear to be technically feasible - The metal reported here is a constituent of the product we sell. We cannot change the quantity used.

Other Environmental Practices: General Environmental Management - Delta Centrifugal operates under an Environmental and Safety Management System. We are ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 certified.

2021 Barriers: B8-Barriers to P2 B8 - A reduction does not appear to be technically feasible

Barriers to P2: B8 - A reduction does not appear to be technically feasible - Chromium is an ingredient in many of our alloys. A reduction in use would mean a reduction in business. This is not a goal.

2020 Barriers: B8-Barriers to P2 B8 - A reduction does not appear to be technically feasible

Barriers to P2: B8 - A reduction does not appear to be technically feasible - The metals reported here are components of our product. We cannot lower the amount of material we use without lowering production.

Other Environmental Practices: General Environmental Management - Delta Centrifugal is committed to human health, safety, and the environment. We are ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 certified and maintain an active business management plan addressing these issues.

2019 Barriers: B8-Barriers to P2 B8 - A reduction does not appear to be technically feasible

Other Environmental Practices: General Environmental Management - Delta Centrifugal is committed to honoring human health and the environment. We are an ISO 14001 company, operating with an Environmental Management Plan. Our plan is inclusive of a Safety Management Plan as well. As a result, we have removed the use of lead (Pb) in our production line, began a recycling program for office materials, worked on swapping out our lamps for more environmentally-friendly technology, and moved towards the use of greener cleaning materials.

Barriers to P2: B8 - A reduction does not appear to be technically feasible - The wastes reported here are material ingredients in our production. We cannot operate a metals-casting company without using metals.

2018 Barriers: B6-Barriers to P2 B6 - Pollution prevention previously implemented - additional reduction does not appear technically or economically feas
Barriers: B7-Barriers to P2 B7 - No known substitutes or alternative technologies.

Other Environmental Practices: General Environmental Management - Delta Centrifugal operates under a Safety, Health, and Environmental Management Plan, certified under ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001.

Barriers to P2: B6 - Pollution prevention previously implemented - additional reduction does not appear technically or economically feas - Delta Centrifugal has removed Pb from its process stream. Other metals are integral parts of the our product.

Barriers to P2: B7 - No known substitutes or alternative technologies. - Delta Centrifugal has removed Pb from its process stream. Other metals are integral parts of the our product.

2017 Barriers: B7-Barriers to P2 B7 - No known substitutes or alternative technologies.

Other Environmental Practices: General Environmental Management - Delta Centrifugal is ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 certified.

Barriers to P2: B7 - No known substitutes or alternative technologies. - Delta Centrifugal is a foundry. Chromium is an ingredient in many of our alloys.

2016
Other Environmental Practices: General Environmental Management - Delta Centrifugal is ISO9000, ISO14000, and OHSAS18000 certified. We have an active environmental, health, and safety management plan.

Source Reduction: Methods for Identifying Pollution Prevention Opportunities - Delta Centrifugal has an active Pollution Prevention team, looking for ways to increase efficiency while minimizing impacts to health, safety, and the environment.

Other Environmental Practices: Recycling - Delta Centrifugal recycles as much of its scrap metal as possible. This is done through on-site reuse and off-site recycling. In addition, purchased feedstock is most often recycled material.

2015 Other Barriers to Source Reduction - Chromium is an integral part of many of the metal alloys we produce.

Barriers to P2: B7 - No known substitutes or alternative technologies. - Chromium is an integral part of many of the metal alloys we produce.

2013 Barriers to P2 - The facility increased production in 2013, making significant capital investment. Materials reported here are the metals used in making our product. As production increases, waste material will also increase, simply through volume. We cannot make steel without nickel, so this compound will not be reduced.

Other Barriers to Source Reduction - The facility increased production in 2013, making significant capital investment. Materials reported here are the metals used in making our product. As production increases, waste material will also increase, simply through volume. We cannot make steel without nickel, so this compound will not be reduced.

2012 Other Environmental Practices - Facility is evaluating process changes to decrease amount of scrap/slag generated.

Other Barriers to Source Reduction - Foundry ceased production of Pb-containing alloys in 2009. Other metals, including chromium, will remain in use.

2009 Other Environmental Practices - Delta Centrifugal has implemented storm water controls that have reduced concentrations of metals in storm water leaving the site.

TRI Pollution Prevention Glossary

The Waste Management Hierarchy

The waste management hierarchy established by the Pollution Prevention Act (PPA) guides waste generators toward the best options for managing wastes. The preferred option is to prevent pollution at its source, but for waste that is generated, the preferred management methods are recycling, followed by burning for energy recovery, treatment and, as a last resort, disposing of the waste.
  • Source Reduction includes activities that eliminate or reduce the generation of chemical waste.
  • Recycling includes the recovery of a toxic chemical in waste for reuse.
  • Energy Recovery includes the combustion of toxic chemicals in waste to generate heat or electricity.
  • Treatment includes the destruction of a toxic chemical in waste.
  • Disposal or Other Releases includes toxic chemical quantities entering the environment.
The PPA requires facilities to provide the following details about each chemical they report to TRI:
Facilities may also provide optional Pollution Prevention Information describing their source reduction, recycling, or pollution control activities.
