Pollution Prevention Activities for Selected Chemical

Reporting Year Section 8.10: Newly Implemented Source Reduction Activity Section 8.10: Methods to Identify Activity Section 8.11: Optional Pollution Prevention Information*
2021 Source Reduction:: S04: Substituted manufacturing aid, processing aid, or other ancillary chemical
Methods to Identify SR Opportunities: T11: Other
2020 Other Barriers to Source Reduction - Operators are managing our WWTP daily as well as our Land Application System. The system is constantly monitored to ensure we meet permit requirements. A third party lab performs all tests associated with permit reporting

2019 Barriers: B7-Barriers to P2 B7 - No known substitutes or alternative technologies.

Barriers to P2: B7 - No known substitutes or alternative technologies. - Currently we are collecting data for Nitrates/Nitrites as part of our WWTP NPDES Permit and reporting values monthly with our DMRs. We do not have any limits associated with this component of the effluent stream. We are unaware of any options for reducing this component.

Other Environmental Practices: Recycling - We are still returning a portion of our effluent stream back to the facility. A permanent Reverse Osmosis Unit was installed at our WWTP facility

2018
Other Environmental Practices: Recycling - We currently return some of the effluent water back to the facility and process it through an Reverse Osmosis Unit so that it could be used. This limits our total effluent discharges and thus the amount of Nitrates discharged to the river as well.

2016
Other Environmental Practices: Recycling - MillerCoors is continuing to return effluent to the head of the plant to minimize effluent discharge

2002 Source Reduction:: W52: Modified equipment, layout, or piping

Methods to Identify SR Opportunities: T04: Participative team management
Methods to Identify SR Opportunities: T05: Employee recommendation (independent of a formal company program)
2001 Source Reduction:: W52: Modified equipment, layout, or piping

Methods to Identify SR Opportunities: T04: Participative team management
Methods to Identify SR Opportunities: T05: Employee recommendation (independent of a formal company program)
*Classifications of Optional Pollution Prevention Information shown in brackets are provided by EPA.

TRI Pollution Prevention Glossary

The Waste Management Hierarchy

The waste management hierarchy established by the Pollution Prevention Act (PPA) guides waste generators toward the best options for managing wastes. The preferred option is to prevent pollution at its source, but for waste that is generated, the preferred management methods are recycling, followed by burning for energy recovery, treatment and, as a last resort, disposing of the waste.
  • Source Reduction includes activities that eliminate or reduce the generation of chemical waste.
  • Recycling includes the recovery of a toxic chemical in waste for reuse.
  • Energy Recovery includes the combustion of toxic chemicals in waste to generate heat or electricity.
  • Treatment includes the destruction of a toxic chemical in waste.
  • Disposal or Other Releases includes toxic chemical quantities entering the environment.
The PPA requires facilities to provide the following details about each chemical they report to TRI:
Facilities may also provide optional Pollution Prevention Information describing their source reduction, recycling, or pollution control activities.
