---|---|---|---|
2013 |
Other Barriers to Source Reduction - Pollution prevention processes previously implemented are still in use, but new pollution prevention projects were not identified this year. |
||
2012 |
Other Barriers to Source Reduction - Changes made the previous year did not cause further reduction this year. |
||
2011 |
Source Reduction:: W14: Changed production schedule to minimize equipment and feedstock changeovers
|
Methods to Identify SR Opportunities: T04: Participative team management
|
W14: We have dedicated tanks for specific product types. Source Reduction - This was determined to be the best option to increase production efficiency and decrease waste. Source Reduction - The products manufactured, based on demand, do not necessarily reflect the use of this chemical. It depends on which solvent is used for each procuct. |
2010 | Source Reduction - We are continuing to use cleaning solutions in the next batch of the same product, rather than disposing of them. | ||
2009 |
Source Reduction:: W52: Modified equipment, layout, or piping
|
Methods to Identify SR Opportunities: T01: Internal pollution prevention opportunity audit(s)
|
Source Reduction - Each tank was dedicated to a product line, allowing flush from cleaning a tank to be used in the next batch produced in that tank. |
2002 |
Source Reduction:: W33: Installed overflow alarms or automatic shutoff valves
Source Reduction:: W52: Modified equipment, layout, or piping |
Methods to Identify SR Opportunities: T03: Materials balance audits
Methods to Identify SR Opportunities: T03: Materials balance audits Methods to Identify SR Opportunities: T05: Employee recommendation (independent of a formal company program) |
The Waste Management Hierarchy |
The waste management hierarchy established by the Pollution Prevention Act (PPA) guides waste generators toward the best options for managing wastes.
The preferred option is to prevent pollution at its source, but for waste that is generated, the preferred management methods are recycling, followed
by burning for energy recovery, treatment and, as a last resort, disposing of the waste.
